DIP is a national programme established here in 2005. The focus of DIP is to reduce drug related crime by establishing Criminal Justice Intervention Teams (CJITs) that engage with problematic drug users involved with the criminal justice system. CJITs enable rapid access to appropriate treatment, with support through and after treatment.
|
DIP aims to break the cycle of drug misuse, offending behaviour and custody by intervening at every stage of the Criminal Justice System to engage offenders in drug treatment.
|
DIP has developed:
- Access to rapid prescribing
- Single Point of Contact for referrals from professionals
- 24/7 Help line for appropriate clients
- Comprehensive assessment and appropriate treatment services
- Partnerships with Probation, the Courts, Prisons and the Police
- Partnerships with other relevant service providers to access services to address the individual's broader range of needs.
